About

My name is Julian Azcary Montes, and I’ve got love for the people. I am more than a brown man with a couple of cameras and a decent eye - I am your dedicated, curious and passionate storyteller.

My purpose is to elevate and tell stories in ways that speak to the heart from the heart.

What do you care about?

Let’s tell that story, together.

So what do I do? I freelance as a photographer and videographer and aim to help individuals and groups share what’s on their mind and on their heart. I serve a wide variety of needs ranging from story-driven freelance photojournalism/video-journalism to more creative, narrative projects. I’ve shot everything from 4,000-person shows to small, intimate performances; from impromptu engagement shoots in the woods to professional headshots in the office. I’ve followed graffiti artists and local muralists through the Midwest and documented marchers and activists that often the art speaks to. I’ve seen a multitude of interesting things and have been able to create for a range of purposes.

From an artistic standpoint–while I’m open to experiment with different editing styles, color palettes and other stylistic choices–my work tends to be true to color and vivid in nature. In the realm of the journalistic/documentarian work I most often pursue, depicting things naturally speaks to the authenticity of the moment. However, that’s not to say some creative editing doesn’t have its place! My hope is to tell your story the way you see it.

I have an eye for diversity and special moments. With an aim to capture and memorialize everything from the small, candid moments to the big, historic ones, I believe that every story matters. Your story matters. I am loyal to telling your story the way you see it and will be curious with you every step of the way–from concept to creation.

With my work, I hope to promote equity and inclusion by supporting and uplifting minority and disenfranchised communities, working with businesses that are community centric and nonprofits that hope to make a difference, and capturing the diversity of the arts community from its artists to its mediums (fashion, dance, mural, graffiti, music, etc.).

You have a story, let's work together to tell it.

Your story matters.
